Welcome to the Owls Crossing Ranch!
We came here 15 years ago with one horse, two dogs and two cats ready to switch from life in the city to living on a ranch.
We now have a full barn of horses, donkeys, dogs, cats and other farm animals that fill our day with great stories.
Why a Ranch?
Well, that story goes back 20+ years when my son Patrick (age 10 at the time) made a poster for Mother’s Day of a $10,000 check. When I asked what I would do with it, he said buy a ranch of course. Next birthday, another poster showed up with a truck and horse trailer, then a picture of his first horse.
In 1998 we moved from Fremont, California to Pleasanton, CA, a short drive by car but a permanent lifestyle change. Now our nosiest neighbors are coyotes, turkeys and cattle.
We are a working ranch, set up to board retired horses as well as raise chickens for eggs and other animals for a full animal husbandry experience.
Owls Crossing Ranch is also an educational center, offering programs that help connect young people from the urban environment to the land, the seasons, and the plants and animals that co-exist here in harmonious rural rhythm.
We see hills without houses, colorful sunsets and enjoy the peace and serenity so close to urban life. The rest is history.
Want to know what it is like to live on a ranch?
To provide educational experiences for children and adults that will foster appreciation for, and understanding of, our place within the natural world, and thus encourage responsibility for the future of our environment.
To offer programs that will reconnect people to the rich agricultural/ranching heritage of the United States.
To offer an experience of community as a model of peaceful living.
To offer programs in spiritual development, using the agricultural resources of the ranch as both setting and starting point of such programs.
